Almond Board of California Giveaway
As we celebrate the health benefits of nuts, today is a great Almond Board of California Giveaway. Ten of our Appetite for Health fans will win an Almond Inspiration Cookbook and delicious California almonds, so that you can create some delicious dishes with almonds.
Compared to snacking on nutrient-poor choices like crackers, sweets and treats, nuts are nutritional all-stars. Still, many who struggle to lose or maintain a healthy weight avoid nuts due to their calorie counts and don’t think twice about having crackers or pretzels as a snack. Many dieters feel like nuts are off-limits but research shows that nut eaters are thinner, have smaller waistlines and reduced risk for chronic diseases including type 2 diabetes or heart disease.
In a recently published study, an almond-enriched diet consisting of two one-ounce servings of almonds per day and a nut-free diet were compared with more than 120 adults for 1½ years. At 18-months, the researchers found that both diets were equally effective for
weight loss but the almond eaters had improved markers for heart health. Nuts are diet-friendly because they help temper blood sugar levels and the protein and fiber help keep you fuller, longer.
Another great tip with almonds is that it’s easy to measure a serving (1 oz.). For most women, a handful of almonds equal 23 nuts or a serving. A serving of almonds is 160 calories, 6 grams protein and 3.5 grams fiber.
If you want to win a wonderful Almond Inspiration Cookbook and packages of delicious California-grown almonds, here’s how to enter this Almond Board of California giveaway. You need to “like” Appetite for Health on Facebook and “Like” California Almonds. We also ask that you share one post from our blog that you find interesting via Pinterest, Facebook or Reddit.

We’ve been eating almonds like they’re going out of style! LOL
I shared your “5 tips for getting back on track to your weight goal” ~~ we started a new eating plan at the beginning of August, and have stuck with it pretty well, but this past week has been hard simply because of some various things going on in our lives. It’s good to know that one week won’t end everything unless we let it.

Pinned and shared: STUFF WE LOVE / Oikos Organic Greek Yogurt – Chocolate! Wow, wouldn’t those almonds make a delicious, powerhouse pair of health with chocolate yogurt! Until I read this, I was unaware that Chocolate Yogurt even exists. Almonds are so delicious for a snack, slivered into a salad or in a main dish, such as almond chicken.
I’m definitely not afraid to have fat in my diet. I love almonds! But it wasn’t always that way- I used to avoid nuts because I thought they were “fattening”. What I’ve learned is no food is fattening, but eating too much food is fattening. So now, I watch my food servings and there is plenty of room for nuts. I make my own almond butter and just the other day I made almond butter & banana ice cream. I shared “Go Nuts for Nuts” on FB because I couldn’t go without them- I can eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I add nuts to fruit, vegetables, meat, and they don’t taste half bad with cheese!

I found your produce sticker post so amazing, so I shared it via facebook! I love almonds and all kinds of nuts. As a diabetic the fact that nuts are blood sugar healthy for me plays a large part in my diet. They are a great snack and give me a great pick me up when I am jealous about not getting the “sweets.”

I like all nuts, but Almonds are especially good. They provide benefits some people aren’t aware of, and add crunch to all of the dishes they are in. To me crunch is an essential ingredient.
I’ve been a fan of Appetite for Health for quite a while but added Almond Board of California to my FB site. Can I say how much I love the display of the almonds in the origami shaped canoes? What a fun why to display them? Food so often looks more appetizing if it’s presented in a colorful or unique way. I guess I’ll have to try this for my next almond presentation
PS – I’d LOVE an almond inspiration cookbook!!!
