Our friends at Sun-Maid are spreading the raisin love to Appetite for Health readers with five prize packs that include five bags of Mini-Snacks and a T-shirt with the iconic Sun-Maid logo on it (a total value of $25). Plus, one of the winners will also receive a new book (it IS back-to-school time, after all)—the Sun-Maid 100th Anniversary book! For entry details, read on…
There’s something about those little tiny boxes of Sun-Maid raisins that just screams “school” to me (ok, freshly sharpened No. 2 pencils do that, too). When I was young, I loved getting raisins in my lunch box, and coveted my classmates’ when my own lunch lacked a little red box o’ goodness.
Of course, you don’t have to be a kid to like raisins (or to like finishing up lunch with a box of raisins). Raisins are convenient and simply tasty. Raisins don’t need anything added to them—they’re naturally sweet as they are, unadorned and wholesome. And yes, they count toward your recommended 5-9 servings of fruit per day—people tend to forget that dried fruit does count! In fact, 1/4 cup of raisins provides 1 serving of fruit. Need info about using dried fruit in cooking, want to see videos about the Sun-Maid company? Check out Sun-Maid’s YouTube offerings here.
Did you know that Sun-Maid is 100 years old? I guess time flies when you’re snacking happy. To help celebrate their century in business, Sun-Maid has produced a lovely four-color, hardcover book called “Sun-Maid Raisins and Dried Fruits” that includes historical background on dried fruit and the Sun-Maid company (including the Sun-Maid Girl logo), and more than 50 recipes. Maybe you’ll be the lucky winner of a copy of this book (along with the other Sun-Maid prizes)—and even though school is starting, we promise not to make you do a book report!
To win one of 5 free Sun-Maid Raisin Snacks Prize Packs (5 bags of Mini-Snacks, a T-shirt and a chance at being the grand prize winner, who also will receive Sun-Maid’s 100th Anniversary Book), here’s what you’ll need to do: First, “Like” AFH on Facebook and also “Like” Sun-Maid on Facebook. Then, in the comments section below, tell us what YOU like best about snacking on Sun-Maid raisins. Enter by Saturday, August 18th.
This contest is open to residents of the US only please.
