We know our Appetite for Health friends are darn smart folks, so we’re sure you’ll want to get in on this Smartfood Selects snack giveaway. Ten lucky readers will win 10 bags of a variety of Smartfood Selects snacks (a $33 value). That’s enough to to be snack happy for the rest of the summer! To enter, check the details below…
Several months ago I received a few bags of Smartfood Selects snacks as part of a mailing to dietitians. Now, I’m not a huge snacker, but once in a while, when the mood strikes, it’s nice to have something acceptable on hand. The Smartfood Selects Popped Chips (Cinnamon and Brown Sugar variety) were just sitting there waiting for me… and I succumbed. But in my defense, these were delicious and more healthful than some other options out there. Here are the crunchy details…
There are several types of Smartfood Selects snacks: the Popped Chips (in the Cinnamon and Brown Sugar Multigrain that I mentioned, as well as Feta
Herb Hummus, Garlic Tomato Basil Hummus, and Italian Herb Multigrain. The Smartfood Selects line also includes Puffed Corn (in Sour Cream & Onion), and Popcorn (in Buffalo Cheddar, Parmesan Herb and Cinnamon Brown Sugar). Whew! That’s a whole lot of herbs, spices and flavor combinations! The different types of snacks vary in terms of nutrition content, but in general, here’s what the Smartfood Selects brand is all about:
- No artificial flavors or preservatives
- Real herbs and spices
- Cooked in oils that are higher in polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fat (such as sunflower and corn oil)
- 160 calories or less per 1-ounce serving
If you haven’t eaten puffed and popped snacks before, you may not realize that the pieces per serving are generous due to the light weight of each piece. Basically these snacks feel bigger, and more crunch equals more satisfaction for some people. One more thing – most of the snacks are now packaged in resealable bags—I like!

My family snacks smart by eating a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables.
we eat alot of vegies and popcorn but seriously these look great and so want to try
Well we have just started eating smarter a couple of years ago, I have stopped frying every single piece of meat we eat and I have cut out a lot of sugar. I am drinking flavored water or sodastream soda instead of all the sugary colas. I have lost 13 pounds since December, to some that might not be much but to me it is a lot of weight off my back and knees =)
good luck to all and thank you
We snack on a lot of carrots, celery, hummus and salsa!
I enjoy a lot of high protein snacks such as almonds, hard boiled eggs, and canned water packed tuna.
Mostly my healthy snacks are raw apples and walnuts.
We snack smart on fruits, veggies, nuts, frozen yogurts, smoothies, popcorn (air popped), I make home made pita chips and will sometimes sprinkle them with just a touch of cinnamon and sugar for a sweet treat.
Snacks are super yummy and great for a pick me up. To keep my family healthy we consume smaller portion sizes and load up on proteins, fruits, and veggies.
We eat and snack with a variety of yummy treats. I like to make kale chips, I like to make walnut and date bars topped with fresh fruit, we also like some fresh salsa with tortillas chips…..and it would be awesome to be able to try Smartfood, and add that to our list of healthy snacks!!

Like both. My family and I snack smart by keeping only healthy snacks in the house, and portion them out so we know how much we’re eating insteading eating them straight out of the bag or box.
We snack smart by avoiding unnatural processed ingredients in food! Basically if I don’t understand something on the label in plain English, then I shouldn’t be eating it and shouldn’t be buying it as it only leads to temptation! Real Food = Smart Food! Keep lots of whole nutritious organic fruits and veggies in the fridge both fresh and frozen and lots of pure real ingredient snack foods – like popcorn, trail mix, dried fruit, nuts, natural peanut butter, string cheese…etc. Would love the try Smartfoods and add them to my pantry for my family!
