Very Cool Vegetabowls—Win Them Here!

Vegetabowls picPeaches and plums and cherries, oh my! With fresh fruit so plentiful at this time of year, we at APPETITE FOR HEALTH thought you’d like to have a nice new bowl to hold all that fresh fruit we know you’re eating! The generous folks at Vegetabowls have provided us with 6 of their lovely and functional cantaloupe bowls (each a $22 value)! Read on for details on how to win one of these bowls for your table…

Obviously, these neat Vegetabowls are works of art—the pics at left show just how beautiful they are! I don’t know about you, but I’m a huge fan of fruit and veggie-themed dinnerware, gadgets, table linens and decorative items. There’s just something so appealing about using food-themed tableware—I can’t get enough (though my children have advised me that if we get any more food-related items people will start to talk….oh well)!

Vegetabowls are handmade by Melanie and Justin Mckenney who live outside of Buffalo NY. The two attended Alfred University (well-known for ceramics and arts), where they received their Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees.

The bowls are slip-casted from molds that are made from real fruits and vegetables. Hence, the unique, organic qualities of each fruit and vegetable translate through to each bowl. You can feel the texture of the cantaloupe as you use your bowl. Small marks and variations in color are a sign of the handmade process.

These are fully functional serving pieces. They are earthenware pieces, decorated with non-toxic, food-safe glazes that reflect the bright colors of their edible inspirations. The bowls are dishwasher safe, but they are not recommended for use in the microwave or oven. The Vegetabowls product line is constantly evolving and expanding with each trip to the farmer’s market and each passing season.  Check out the Vegetabowls website to see all the available products—they’re really amazing-looking! They make a great gift for like-minded foodies, too.

cantaloupe bowl

The cantaloupe bowls we are thrilled to give away are about 6-inches long and 5-inches wide—a nice, useful size that’s not too big to store and is pretty as a decorative item as well. An artist card that tells the Vegetabowl story will be included with each bowl.

Ok AFH friends, if you would like to try and win one of the 6 Handmade Cantaloupe Vegetabowls, first make sure that you “Like” AFH on Facebook  AND “Like” Vegetabowls on Facebook, too.
