my best tip is if you don’t like water try adding some lemon..or some mint or both.I make it a point everynight to make a pitcher of lemon water and put in fridge- first thing in am pour a refillable cup…my goal is that pitcher each day and seeing it out and ready encourages it more- fills me up and helps me eat less. Also put away big dishes and use salad plates- you will eat less…I could say don’t buy the junk and you won’t have it to grab but thats just logic- learn self control.

  2. Suzanne says:

My best tip is to keep a food diary and plan all your meals ahead of time, so it lessens the chance of straying from healthy food. :)

  3. Tricia Cable says:

My best tip is to make healthy food fun, dip green beans in a peanut sauce, carrots and mango’s make a nice dessert, etc. This makes it easier for kids to want to eat right too!

  4. Christine N. says:

My best tip I have found is to always plan your meals as Suzanne said before me. But also make sure you have plenty of food items that will curb that craving when it does hit with snacks that are good for you, low in salt, fat & calories~!

  5. Grace Lin says:

My best tip is to be MINDFUL of everything! Whether it be grocery shopping, physical activities, or eating. Be smart when shopping; go for natural items and stay away from processed foods. Check those ingredients and nutrition labels! Exercise is great, but know your limits. You don’t want to over exert yourself to an injury, which would prolong inactivity. Find healthier alternatives to incorporate into your day (i.e. biking or walking instead of driving). And finally, watch your portion sizes when you eat. Don’t fall for the whole “I have to eat everything on my plate” idea that our society hammers into our heads. Eat until you are satisfied! Use the tips they give here, like use small plates :)

  6. My best tip is to keep healthy snacks around – fruit, cut-up veggies, etc. That way, when you have a craving, you have something there to eat instead of filling up on sweets or other items!

  7. Heather says:

Track what you eat. You don’t realize how often you snack until you record it.

  8. Educate yourself by reading labels and learn where your food comes from.

  9. Lisa Voss says:

The best tip I can think of right now is to just get off your tush and go go go. Don’t sit around all the time and be lazy. Take the bull into your own hands and go workout but also have fun doing it. Drink lots of water and yes EAT LOTS OF STRAWBERRIES!!!! They are my favorite of all the fruit out there!!!!

  11. My healthy tip is to stay positive, for a positive attitude makes you want to make healthy choices when it comes to living, such as eating healthy and keeping your body in motion. Always keep moving, even if you don’t think you are doing anything, a little goes a far way. I would definately say drink lots and lots of water to stay hydrated and fresh and reduce non-hunger pains. However, the one point that many people forget or don’t live up to is getting enough sleep….without proper sleep, you will feel sluggish, look sluggish, and make very poor decisions when it comes to eating!!!

  12. melissa e. says:

Its like being a kid in a candy store to open the cupboard and decide which flavor to eat every morning. Aloha!

My best workout tip is…look good while you workout. What I’m saying is buy some workout clothes that you feel and look good in. Spend that extra money on a pair of workout shoes that fit and look good. It makes a huge difference when you feel like you already look good when you work out. I find that I push myself harder, will stay longer and am more inclined to go when i look forward to wearing my workout gear.

Since switching to a vegetarian diet my health has drastically improved. Two weeks ago we were hit with an F3 tornado and due to loss of power and rotting produce I was forced like everyone else to eat from a bag, my energy level dropped dramatically. Two days ago with the strom damage mostly mitigated I returned to my healthy vegetarian diet and I feel so much better. I missed my new and improved lifestyle and god willing I won’t be going back to a drive-thru ever again!

P.S. We love Better Oats, have turned my mom onto them and now she has a box of every flavor. No more Quaker here folks.

  51. When I go out to eat, I always order water with my meal, not only is it healthier but saves you money too :)

  52. Cheryl Christian says:

My best tip that I have been using alot is to order as usual in restaurant, then only eat half of the portions, taking the other half home to eat for another meal. Not only do I leave the restaurant feeling full, but I also don’t feel so stuffy that I feel sick trying to get my money’s worth. Plus I have a whole other meal to eat and have saved on a lot of calories too.

  53. Because now days the portions are double what they need be, I like to share my entree or take half home for leftovers. Not only better health wise but a money saver as well. So it’s a win-win!

  54. Submitting another tip since what I said was already mentioned above -I will read comments before posting next time :) As far as eating out, when I order salad, I always ask for dressing on the side. A tip for home, I always keep a fruit bowl filled with fresh fruit for a quick snack or for breakfast on the go! We have a decorative little table by the door which is very convenient when you’re running late so you can just grab a banana or apple on your way out.

  71. Lisa Eyten says:

My best health tip is to walk for at least 30 minutes every day, and drink plenty of water

  72. Melanie Parker says:

The best tip I’ve got is regarding children. Although this is HARD, the best thing is to NOT have all those bad foods in the house. If they aren’t there, the kids are more likely to eat the good stuff that is there. For example, my 2 older kids were raised this way. Along comes the 3rd child and the dad decides we should have ‘snacks’ in the house. Don’t know what all those carrots, apples, celery and peanut butter were…. Anyways, my son won’t touch any of this stuff until we run out of the stuff dad buys. THEN he’ll break down and eat healthy.

  82. Jennifer says:

I recommend before a larger meal always drinking a full 8 oz glass of water. Not only does this make sure you always get the water you need throughout the day, but you won’t eat as much in one setting. I also prefer to eat smaller “meals” throughout the day. Usually 5-6 small healthy snacks(fruit, crackers, raw veggies, ect) and a big breakfast and a decent dinner. Keeps energy going and keeps me from grabbing a bag of chips or candy.

  83. I try to eat small meals throughout the day rather than have 3 huge meals.

  84. Marilynn says:

To make my oatmeal have even more healthful benefits and to help flush out the cholesterol, I purchase some bulk oat bran and add it to my bowl before I microwave my morning cereal.

  85. My health tip would have to be to not sit around. To do activities, even if its just vaccuming the house or watering plants outside.

  86. The best tip I have been given is always start with a salad. The bigger the salad the smaller the waist. I have to say that this with drinking more water and watching portion sizes has helped me. I am losing weight at a good pace and my health has improved greatly! Working out and lifestyle changes have made a ton of difference!

  87. Find a supportive partner for working out…they can motivate you on the days you don’t feel like it and visversa!

  88. Mariesa Robbins says:

Just dieting & then going back to the same thing that made you gain weight before will never work. 156. Starting your day with a nutritious breakfast is key, as is exercise! I know this, I was never a big breakfast person but bought a box of Better Oats Strawberry last fall and began having them each morning. Over the course of the winter, without any additional changes to my diet or exercise, I dropped 15 pounds and went from a 34″ waist to a 31″ (could fit in 30″) waist. I’ve always been in good shape but wanted better and I definitely saw the results by adding Better Oats to my day. It is now May and I am still beginning my day with Better Oats Oatmeal (Strawberries & Cream or Berry Blast). I am now a believer in starting my day that way. I feel better, my pants are looser

  172. i am a baker so i try to make things healthy where i can. using applesauce in place of fat in recipes and sneaking goodness in where i can such as chocolate in trick is chocolate will masquerade the flavor of antioxidant-rich pureed spinach. I eat Oatmeal everyday for breakfast …to carry me through to lunch..I walk when I can and limit my intake of anything white.

  301. My health tips are pretty standard. It’s important to eat breakfast, drink a lot of water through the day, and take a multi vit. + some supplements daily. I don’t like oatmeal, but I saw the Better Oats (Raw) at the store last year and thought my Mom would love it. She’s been a healthy eater her whole life, and has encouraged me to eat healthy also. She loved the Raw Better Oats and asked for more. I ended up buying one with added stuff that she wasn’t interested in, so I ate it. I don’t like oatmeal, but I love Better Oats, go figure? I add either chopped apples and cinnamon or smushed bananas before I microwave it. I cook it longer than suggested and it tastes lik apple or banana bread. I think it’s important to drink a lot of water to flush things through my body and have found that the duration of illnesses shortened (such as a cold). I take the vitamins and supplements daily as it’s important to get enough of the nutrients and I don’t believe it’s possible to do this though eating alone (especially with Vit. D3).

  302. Rebecca M says:

Drink 1glass of water before eating each meal to help with hunger and to help lose weight.

  303. I drink a fruit smoothie every day, even if it’s just a little bit. It makes me feel so much better every time!

  304. Meiko C says:

My Health Tip: drink a glass of water 12 oz to 18 oz in the morning upon waking up; to hydrate your body that has been working all night repairing itself and healing for 7-8 hrs. Follow this up with a nutritious healthy breakfast called “Better Oats”.

“I LIKE” this brand and their product line, the best oatmeal product I ever had….

  305. Nancy D. says:

Health tip: switch from beef and pork to poultry, fish, and tofu. I save a lot in fat and calories. For example, ground turkey costs less than ground beef and works exactly the same in your recipes. I feel better having given up what I consider “heavier” meats.

  306. my best health tip is make sure you drink 16oz of water prior to meals and it will help you feel more full therfore you won’t be likely to over eat.

  307. Dennis W. says:

The best advice I have received is to not only watch calorie intake, but to make sure the calories consumed each day contain a balance of whole grains, fiber, protein, and vitamins we need to be as healthy as possible. Part of my own regimen includes Better Oats, and the strawberry is one of my favorites.

  308. Drink lots of water. Always eat breakfast!

  315. Best health tip: Start every day with breakfast!! I am a busy mom of four and it’s easy to get sidetracked…although I feed my kids a good meal, by the time we get rolling in the morning, the next thing I know it’s lunchtime and all I’ve eaten is a handful of goldfish and a latte. Yikes! When I start the day with a good meal I tend to make smarter choices throughout the day.

  316. Joyce M says:

I tend to eat popcorn when I crave a snack. Also lowfat Yogurt and carrot sticks or celery with peanut butter helps to stave off hunger. My health tip is eat small frequent meals rather than big bulky ones, stay away from processed foods, drink a good amount of water, and exercise as much as possible (even if it´s just a neighborhood walk with your dog). A book I read recommends eating as much as you want as long as it´s mostly fruits, veggies, and nuts(which better oats is two out of three). I believe there´s a lot to that because with those three groups fill you up, and they have way more benefits than disadvantages. If we all had active lifestyles and jobs, read books rather than watched tv, went outside, and ate and drink what the earth naturally provides, health wouldn´t be such a concern.

I also try to log what I eat most days, and I’ve finally become pretty successful at it. That helps me find pitfalls and encourages me to eat well cuz I have to “fess up” to myself if I don’t! 374. My health tip: Eat balanced meals and eat them more slowly so you know when you’ve really eaten enough. Enough? And don’t eat when it’s close to bedtime.
