Snacking On-the-Go

I try my best to plan my snacks in advance and bring them from home. This usually saves time and money. With all of the travel I do however, sometimes there are occasions when I need to purchase a snack from somewhere besides a grocery store or green market. One of my “go to” staples is a non-fat yogurt parfait. Starbucks has one that comes in at about 300 calories (a bit high for most ‘snacks’, but I account for this at other meals). I usually don’t add all of the granola b/c I find it a bit too sweet, but this is a satisfying snack, plus it has about 1/3 of my daily requirement for calcium. Here I paired it with some “awake” tea so I could power though my afternoon. When purchasing a snack out, always remember to read the label! Some pre-made yogurt parfaits are made with whole fat yogurt, which can make a substantial difference in calories.
